About The Author

Grace Ge Gabriel grew up in China and came to America in the 1980s. A fateful encounter with a rescued bear prompted her return to her native country and found the China office for the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). As IFAW’s Asia regional director for two decades, she led campaigns that were covered by The New York TimesThe Washington Post, CNN, NPR, Vogue, and TIME magazine. She has been published in the National Geographic, the UN Chronicle, and more, and featured in documentaries aired on Animal Planet and the BBC. Grace lives on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
